The specialty Salzburger Mozartkugel, whose early marketing under this name dates back to the Salzburg confectioner Rudolf Baumann, is to this day inextricably linked with the traditional Confectionery Josef Holzermayr – a former k.u.k. Purveyor to the Imperial and Royal Court known for the highest craftsmanship and quality.
True to the company philosophy “”Chocolate to Enjoy””, Josef Holzermayr opened his confiserie of the same name at Mozartplatz 2–3 in Salzburg’s Old Town.
In 1914, his son Rudolf Holzermayr took over the business and expanded it to include a wholesale confectionery business and another shop in the Getreidegasse 42. From there, he made the Salzburg Mozartkugel accessible to a wide audience.
Since the company’s relocation in 1919, Alter Markt 7 has been the location where the genuine Salzburg Mozartkugel has been available in time-honored tradition.
