The genuine Salzburger Mozartkugel, known for its distinctive taste, is inextricably linked to the long-standing Confiserie Josef Holzermayr, which was founded in 1865 – a purveyor to the imperial and royal court, renowned for its exquisite craftsmanship and quality.
Chocolate to enjoy – true to this company philosophy, Josef Holzermayr opened his confectionery shop of the same name at Mozartplatz 2–3 in Salzburg’s Old Town.
In 1914, his son Rudolf Holzermayr took over the business and expanded it to include a confectionery wholesale business and another shop in the Getreidegasse 42.
Since the company was relocated in 1919, Alter Markt 7 has been the place where the real Salzburg Mozartkugel has been available according to the real recipe from 1880 in proven tradition.
